Power down this Father’s Day. With all of the screens and gadgets that have our attention these days, it is easy to forget how nice it is to take pleasure in the simple life. So when Sunday, June 17, rolls around, do your dad a favor – silence that cell phone, turn off your TV, shut down your computer and put all that extra time into one of these four ways you can “power down” on Father’s Day.
- Get outside: Whether it’s golf, tennis, football or even just a long walk, get outside and play Dad’s favorite sport as a family. You’ll share a few laughs and be able to let Dad’s inner sports hero shine.
- Cook: If Dad isn’t a huge fan of cooking, let him relax while the rest of the family makes him his favorite meal. Or better yet, make something where the whole family is involved! Create a “make your own pizza” station and get everyone in on the fun.
- Play a board game: Bust out those old school board games like Monopoly or Scrabble. Nostalgic games like these are always a crowd pleaser.
- Make it an event: Get other families in on your ‘unplugged’ father’s day. Have a Father’s Day BBQ with another family or go all out with a Father’s Day block party! Either way, the extra people will jazz up Dad’s special day even more.
So, this Father’s Day, focus on fun with family. Enjoy the time you get to spend with Dad and don’t sweat the small stuff. Remember, if you get muddy footprints in the house after family football or spill a jar of marinara during pizza night, you can always turn to Rug Doctor for your carpet cleaning needs. Have a happy Father’s Day!
