The Olympics are finally here! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the summer games than hosting an Opening Ceremony watch party. Rug Doctor wants you to celebrate the best way possible, so here are a few party tips and ideas to get the 2012 games started off right:
- Root for the U.S.A. – Decorate your house from floor to ceiling with red, white and blue. Patriotic streamers, pictures of your favorite athletes or fun party favors such as miniature American Flags or gold, silver and bronze medals for your guests to have during the opening ceremony will get everyone in the spirit.
- Feast like a Champion – The queen may not regularly eat pub food, but your guests may find it fun to taste some authentic British cuisine. The Internet is overflowing with recipes for classics like ‘fish and chips’ or ‘bangers and mash.’ Or, you can stick to the American food classics, such as burgers or hot dogs. Match your U.S.A theme by having guests bring a red, white or blue item.
- Try out some Trivia – During commercial breaks, test your guests on their knowledge of British history or the heritage of the Olympics. At the end of the night, award your top three competitors a gold, silver and bronze medal.
- Have your own Games – If you have kids at your party, try hosting your own Olympic Games! Set up a tug of war station, an obstacle course or even a relay race, complete with an Olympic torch. This is a great way to get everyone involved and create a little friendly competition.
Want your party to go off without a hitch? Make sure you clean as you go, don’t be afraid to ask your guests for help, and lastly, just relax and enjoy the company. As always, if you have any spills or messes during your celebration, you can count on Rug Doctor to come to the rescue.
