Cleaning your carpet on a regular basis is an important step toward keeping it in good shape and helping it last for a long time. This is because soil and other debris wears out carpet fibers, as every time someone walks on a dirty carpet, the soil gets ground into the fibers. This permanently wears down and scratches the fibers, which reduces the life of the carpet. Therefore, in order to keep your carpet lasting for a long time, you need to remove these damaging particles frequently.
Unfortunately, there is no simple answer when it comes to determining how often you should clean your carpets. This is because there are a variety of factors that impact how often the job needs to be done. For example, if you have kids or pets in your home, you will need to clean your carpets more frequently. The same is true if someone in your home smokes.
As a general rule of thumb, the carpeting in a household containing two non-smoking adults should be cleaned once every six to twelve months. If those two people are smokers, on the other hand, the carpet will need to be cleaned once every four months instead. Similarly, if you have children or pets in your home, you will need to clean the carpeting at least once every six months. And, if you have both pets and children, you will likely need to clean your carpet once every three months in order to keep it in good shape.
Of course, these are just general guidelines. To determine how often your carpet needs to be cleaned, it is important for you to keep a close eye on its overall quality. Keep in mind, however, that carpeting I designed to hide soil. In fact, it can hold its own weight in dirt. Therefore, if you are noticing dark or dirty areas on your carpet, it is extremely dirty and should be cleaned right away. Obviously, it is best to avoid letting your carpet get to this level of soiling. By cleaning it on a regular basis, you can keep it looking great and lasting for years to come.
